Vision of education system

The Basic Education Core Curriculum is aimed at enhancing capacity of all learners, who constitute the major force of the country, so as to attain balanced development in all respects—physical strength, knowledge and morality. They will fully realize their commitment and responsibilities as Thai citizens as well as members of the world community. Adhering to a democratic form of government under constitutional monarchy, they will be endowed with basic knowledge and essential skills and favorable attitude towards further education, livelihood and lifelong learning. The learner-centered approach is therefore strongly advocated, based on the conviction that all are capable of learning and self-development to their highest potentiality.

Goals

The Basic Education Core Curriculum is aimed at the full development of learners in all respects——morality, wisdom, happiness, and potentiality for further education and

livelihood. The following goals have consequently been set for achievement upon completing basic education:

1. Morality, ethics, desirable values, self-esteem, self-discipline, observance of Buddhist teachings or those of one’s faith, and guiding principles of Sufficiency Economy;

2. Knowledge and skills for communication, thinking, problem-solving, technological know-how, and life skills;

3. Good physical and mental health, hygiene, and preference for physical exercise;

4. Patriotism, awareness of responsibilities and commitment as Thai citizens and members of the world community, and adherence to a democratic way of life and form of government under constitutional monarchy; and

5. Awareness of the need to preserve all aspects of Thai culture and Thai wisdom, protection and conservation of the environment, and public-mindedness with dedication to public service for peaceful and harmonious co-existence.

  • Academic support system

There are two level in this school, actually three : the first is elementary school, junior high school or they called as lower level and the last is senior high school or they called as upper level. So, I focus on teaching students at lower level and upper level, especially English major. there are several subject in lower school and upper school. here the table of the subject that I teach when I join this program.

There are several subject that I haven’t mention yet. Actually, there are Thai Language, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Religion and Culture, Health and Physical Education, Arts, Occupations and Technology the last one is Foreign Languages. I am focusing on this subject that has been my subject of teaching. In that school also provide free internet high speed, library, computer in each room, LCD and computer room, so the teacher and student can easily find the material of the subject from many different resources. The school has a higher level of facilitation whether can help both of teacher and students in teaching and learning process. the interesting is the book that the school uses are kind of book from Oxford and that actually use in university level but the school started to use the book. In my point of view, this school prepares the students for better future well. This school is flexible which in material, the development of technology and the development of students’ knowledge.

This is additional information that is taken in Thailand curriculum:

  • Teaching system

The teaching system of Satit school of Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Rajabhat University is students and teacher center. What I observed from the system of teaching in this school is the process of teaching and learning process focus on teacher as the center of learning and teaching process. the students sit and listen for the teacher somehow the teacher also doing the interaction for students where can build or raise the teacher and students center in the classroom. The teachers have book that already contains the step of teaching so it is easy for the teacher to manage the class. In my point of view, the process of learning in this school more focus on the knowledge of science than other subject, but it does not mean that if the school focus on science, so they do not focus on other subject, but in this school there some students also interest with other subject like English subject. For learning management through the learner-centered approach, learners will depend on a variety of learning processes that serve as tools for enabling them to achieve the curriculum goals. Among the essential learning processes for learners are: integrated learning process; knowledge-creating process; thinking process; social process; heuristic learning process; learning process from actual experience; process of actual practice; management process; research process; self-learning process; and process of developing characteristics. Learners should be trained and receive further development for acquiring

competence in these processes, which will facilitate their learning, enabling them to achieve the curriculum goals. Teachers are therefore required to study and understand various learning processes in order to be able to make judicious choices.

  • Measurement and evaluation system

Measurement and evaluation system basically same with Indonesia which is there are mid-term and also final test. So, the way teacher measure the students ability, knowledge and performance in teaching in learning process, they can take it from the students' tasks, interactive in teaching and learning process, quiz, mid-term and also final test. So the teacher already have the measurement and evaluation system for the students. this is an example of evaluation, assessment and measurement system in this school. Measurement and evaluation are part of the learning process. Teachers regularly and continuously measure and evaluate students’ performance in teaching-learning activities by using diverse assessment techniques, e.g., asking questions, observing, examining homework, assessing projects, tasks/assignments and portfolios, and using written tests, etc. Teachers will conduct evaluations themselves or provide learners with opportunities for self-evaluation, peer-to-peer evaluation, and evaluation by parents.

  • Curriculum

For the curriculum, we have the soft file that has been given by the coordinator to us when we prepared our lesson plan, so the curriculum becomes the basic needs of us when we make our lesson plan. It gives a clear vision about what will be achieved when we are in teaching and learning process. So, the curriculum becomes a guideline for me to prepare my self in classroom activity. In this website I already provided the file PDF for you to download. this the picture when we observed the curriculum and lesson plan after that we make our own lesson plan based on the guidlines.

  • Teaching plan (of your major)

For the teaching plan I am going to post the word file of my lesson plan, so you can download and read it. this is the example of lesson plan and also it including my teaching plan in classroom based on my major of teaching. here, it is the picture of my lesson plan.
